MUSIC

Billie Rose and Teddy with their Piano teacher,
Ms. Faulcon, at the Wilmington Music School.

Billie Rose and Teddy both studied piano this year. Teddy has taken about 3 years of Piano. This was Billie's first year on the piano and she did fabulously! Teddy also plays flute. Billie Rose took a year of violin. Billie Rose would like to take up harp. Maybe next year.

Jesse took piano lessons for about 7 years. He stopped taking lessons because there is simply not enough time in a day and he is learning to make those hard choices. He continues to use what he learned in his years of piano lessons in his other musical pursuits. Jess plays the alto and tenor saxophone in three bands, marching band, symphonic band and jazz band. Most notably Jesse sings! Jesse is an all-state singer. He has been in the all-state chorus the past two years running. He sings in his school choral groups and was part of the ensemble that swept the choral competitions in Florida this winter. He also takes private voice lessons at the Wilmington Music School where he sings in the select choral ensemble. His voice has been changing and over the past two years he has moved from alto to tenor. He loves singing classical choral music as well as pieces from musical theater. At the moment he is touring Italy with the Select Choral Ensemble, singing - of course!

Next school year, all three will be singing in the various choral ensembles at WMS. Additionally we will be adding a music theory unit to the homeschool curriculum and hopefully we will be creating a recorder ensemble with other homeschoolers. Fun, fun!
